how to tame your edges

There is something about having laid edges that adds an air of sophistication and sleekness to certain hair styles. Think chic buns, ponytails, fabulous updos, and edgy faux hawks! When it’s time to snatch those edges back, a good edge control product can sometimes be hard to find.

Either they just don’t work or they leave your hair flaky and dry. So I cowered the Internets watching and reading tons of reviews to bring you the top 10 edge tamers for natural and relaxed hair. Whether you need a little hold, or a lot, these products will get your edges together. Leggo!

With a hold level of 10, the highest hold level, EcoStyler is an all-purpose gel that you can count on for all day hold. Unless it’s applied in excess, this gel won’t cake up or flake. Since it is alcohol-free, it will not dry the hair either. For around $4, you can get a 32 oz tub that will last a long time. (Shop it here)

I’m a huge fan of the one by Beautiful Textures. It’s especially great for humid days!

I use Creme of Nature with Argan Oil Perfect Edges – it’s okay. I may give one of these other ones a shot on these 4C edges!

I absolutely loved Carols Daughter Macadamia products but they are pricey and out of stock right now. Eco Styler is an old standby =)

I’ve reviewed all the hair products posted for edge control and hold. Honestly I don’t know which one is the best one for me. I have 4C hair and I’m a natural sweater. Even my scalp becomes extremely moist all over including my edges. Help…..I can’t afford to purchase them all!!

The best I have ever used is the GKhair Serum. It instantly fights the hair frizz and flyaways if there is any. It did wonders on my dry frizzy hair that were so weak. The best cure to a soft smooth finish I can SAY that. Love it. 🙂 <3

Thank you for such a wonderful article dear and from my side I want to say that i am using hair restore treatment from long and its really effective. SheaMoisture’s Strengthen, Grow & Restore Edge Treatment is fortified with Jamaican Black Castor Oil which is rich in essential fatty acids. Certified organic Shea Butter provides deep, nourishing moisturization to dry, damaged hair while natural ingredients like peppermint invigorate the scalp and promote hair growth.

So r u saying you mix these three products together
      1. Jamaican black castor oil
      2. Shea butter
      3. Peppermint
And then apply to your hair
How often everyday, or how much

The absolute best (hands down on a scale of 1-10 is a TEN!) is Hicks transformation edge control. The price is worth it and your hair will be laid for about three days so it’s definitely worth it even more.

As I Am smoothing gel is amazing… The only product that ever made my edges lay down. I had to use a few applications though. I love it. Doesn’t turn white, no flaking, no hardening. At the end of the day I can just brush it out and my hair is super soft due to the product and ingredients. Even putting it on other parts of my hair it works good. If I add the product everyday without washing of course it starts to build up and dandruff shows but I can just cover that up with more product. It’s amazing though my hair is always soft and has a great hold. When you combine with other products though it might turn white. Just use it alone and it will be fine. I only wish they carried it in a bigger container. I use it so much the 8oz goes too fast. Lol
