I sat and watched The Other Woman thinking this could never happen to me (XO to Popsugar for the fabulous screening party). It’s a story of a very unlikely and unconventional friendship between a wife, the girlfriend and…another girlfriend. Nope, could never be me!
But after watching the movie I realized that this could be me. Besides the fact that each woman had a closet that I swooned for, each character was endearing and lovable.
Leslie Mann plays the wife, Kate. A ditzy but fun and lovable girl who would totally be a Stepford Wife. She’s suburban-inspired preppy and loves a cashmere sweater tossed over her shoulders with a floral First Lady-inspired frock.
Cameron Diaz plays the girlfriend, Carly or Carmella (you have to go and see the movie for that joke). A powerful attorney equipped with sleek black power suits and sexy yet slightly conservative dresses (there’s a red dress in this movie that will drop your jaw).
And then there’s Amber played by Kate Upton. She’s totes a sorority girl who was born with money but chooses to wear her favorite cut off shorts and cleavage baring tops at every outing. She was fun though.
As a bonus you get to see Nicki Minaj master the art of playing Onika Tanya Maraj..aka herself. She popped in and out of the movie in a collection of bodycon dresses that showed all of her assets paired with a variety of different wigs.
Without telling you too much of the movie I’ll say that I’d add this to my collection of DVD’s and watch it with my girls during our house parties. You could say I loved it.
Before the movie started we did a little pre-gaming!
(Kela loves photo photo bombing!)
(One of my faves! And I have a lot.)
(I wanna be like her when I grew all the way up)
(Bathroom break requires selfies, duh!)
(There Kela goes again! Ruining a perfectly good selfie!)
After the screening costume designer and stylist, Pat Field sat down for an intimate Q&A.
What was most surprising to me (and the entire audience) was how real Pat was. I had never heard her speak about her career or even watched any interviews featuring her. You would assume just from her Sex And The City days that maybe she was inspired by trends and fancy clothes. WRONG! Pat is a total rockstar and so is her work ethic. I instantly fell in love with her.
Of course I live tweeted the Q&A. Here’s evidence that I was inspired by Pat.
AMEN to all of that amazingness!
Check out the movie trailer below. I strongly urge you to grab your best girlfriends (or re bond with that girl you only kinda like) and make it a movie night on April 25th.
