Back in April 2011 I shared that I was considering going back to my natural hair with plans to eventually do the CHOP! I even gave tips for folks struggling with the transition. Looks like I need to take my own advice now because I feel the struggle!

After leaving The Diva Lounge Monday night with a new product to try I was pumped. I immediately blogged about it. I left the gym last night, took a hot shower, washed all the nasty icky sweat from my roots and conditioned my hair. The instructions on the bottle are really small SO I kinda skipped them and went straight to applying the product.

I ended up twisting my hair as I was applying the product (which took forever and left my arms achy). This seemed like the only way to ensure that the product would be distributed throughout my hair. An hour and a half later I have created little twisty thingees and I am off to bed. I wake up today and after a little blow drying and plucking this is what I have…

I did a little goddess twist on one side and stuck a rose pin on the other. The front of my hair just wouldn’t curl right (because about an inch of the ends are still relaxed)! But the product claimed to curl relaxed and curly hair.

The back of my hair which is completely natural did curl a lot better. But still not quite what I was expecting. And please don’t ask what I was expecting because I haven’t a clue!

Now… here is my hair straight!

If you know me (or even “sometimes” read my blog) it should be more than obvious which style I love more! However, I’m a trooper so I’m still on the hunt for the perfect style or products for my hair. No matter what I won’t be getting a perm but I am considering a Keratin Treatment (once I completely understand what it is and know whether or not my hair will completely fall the eff out…).

Q: Obviously I blogged about this sooooo I wanna know what you think of my new hair? Like it, Love it, Hate it, Don’t care? Let me know!!

I actually love my short hair straight and debating on cutting more off. tee hee!

I love them both!! I will say that your hair needs time to develop a curl pattern, even with product. If I can be honest, the curly is my favorite of the two 🙂

I love, love the curly look but your look beautiful in both styles. I wish my grey would grow out as lovely as yours.

FYI… Natural hair works best when u apply product after washing and let air dry. When u untwisted the next morning and used the blow dryer that caused the frizz. I suggest washing at night after the gym but in the morning fewer, apply product, style and leave it alone. With the hot weather it should be half dry and set by time u get to work. its really a trial and error process and making sure u have the right products. Good luck!

Yea the blow dry option was a suggestion from someone… figured I would try it out. Last night I washed and applied Shea Moisture Curl and Style Milk and just twisted some pieces in the back and did the same goddess twist in the front. The permed hair has to go before I fall in love with my hair. LOL. This hair reminds me of Georgetown summers in the woods, Le sigh!

I’m all for the natural hair movement but if it takes too much effort then perhaps straight? I like the wave with the straight hair though 🙂

It takes just as much effort with straight hair, it’s just that most of us are new to managing curly hair so it’s different and sometimes seems more like a task. I just cut the rest of the chemicals away soooo it may curl easier. The chemicaled hair would not curl despite what products say.

I love it straight. It looks really nice. But then again, I’m one of those people… ya know, born with curly hair but love straight hair vs those born with straight hair and love curly hair LOL
