The older I get the more interested in beauty I am. My mother was my beauty icon. I gaze at her pictures and remember how beautiful she was!

I remember sitting on her bed watching her get ready for dates with my dad. She would literally have to put me out. My mom notoriously used Noxema, and ALWAYS rolled her hair before going to bed. I’ll admit that I am not always that diligent. So it’s obvious that I have loads of old-school tips and tricks that I still swear by.

But there’s three that I still do to this day!

1. Brightening your grey hair with hydrogen peroxide.

One of the questions that I am always asked. How do you keep your grey hair so shiny?

For dull yellow greys, mix equal parts of 3% hydrogen peroxide, water, and your favorite conditioner in a spray bottle. Spray clean, damp, non-conditioned hair with the mixture. Comb through the hair with a wide-toothed comb or pick. Leave on for 15 to 20 minutes before rinsing. Repeat once a week to prevent buildup.

You COULD buy a clarifying shampoo but, meh! I prefer the natural route.

2. Long celebrity-like nails

The second popular question I get is are my nails real. YEP! I treat my nails just as good as I treat my hair. Here’s what works for me!

Cut a lemon in two parts and dip your fingers inside, so that all your nails enter the middle of the lemon. Let it sit for 10 minutes, this will strengthen your nails and prevent their fragility and chipping.

3. Vaseline for Cracked elbows and feet.

So my right elbow is always dry and brittle, especially in the winter (yikes can you believe winter coming up). And sometimes it feels like it could cut a brick with my heels (luckily I am pretty, right). I use the Vaseline Intensive Care Cocoa Radiant to heal my cracked ashy elbows and feet. The anti-inflammatory ingredients will help hydrate and repair the skin.

AND lucky for you from September 24-30th Vaseline Cocoa Radiant Lotion is $1.00 off any 10z or larger. I’m also hosting a giveaway and one winner will get one (1) $100 Wal-mart gift card. Enter here: http://gvwy.io/3leto1h
