Over 600 curly girls stood outside awaiting their first glimpse at the long awaited Dark and Lovely Au Naturale product line. The event was hosted by Marsha Ambrosius and natural hair blogger, Curly Nikki.
Instantly guests were greeted by beautiful models with curly coifs with passed hors d’oeuvres. Curl Stations were fully stocked with the complete Au Naturale line for guests to see, feel, touch and smell. You could also get a personalized consultation from natural hair gurus who gave you a recipe for beautiful curly tresses.
As a brand who previously built their empire on straight hair, Dark & Lovely is beginning to take #TeamNatural seriously. With the help of my curlfriend, Curly Nikki, who has just received hers to try.
“I’m here because I think it says a lot about a brand known for their relaxer products and they are invested in us (curly girls) and created a line that catered to us.” – Curly Nikki
One of the characteristics that the Dark and Lovely Au Naturale line brags about is the anti-shrinkage–which may prove to be a game changer for women with a more kinky curl pattern. Can it be possible that finally a brand has found a way to combat dryness and shrinkage?
Well singer/songwriter Marsha Ambrosius, who is a lover of the line thinks so.
“You need all of it, genuinely you need all of it. You use the shampoo and conditioner, then you put the gel pomade and it works together, its like a synergy thing. Like I’ve been searching for a line that works because I try so many home remedies. I’ll get coconut oil from Whole Foods. I’ll get some mango butter from somewhere else. So you don’t have to search for that product. Dark and Lovely Au Natural has everything that I need in it. So use all of it, I promise I’m living proof my hair is temper-mental and it works.” – Marsha Ambrosius
I am super excited to try out the new line! Stay tuned for my review. Check out a few images from the evening (click on any image to start the gallery).
