That moment you know a lipstick was sent to you from God and baby Jesus cosigned it. That’s how I felt when I found my black|Up lipstick pencil buried deep in my makeup collection.

Funny story. I was sent a few black|Up products years ago. And when I say years I mean…nearly 2 years ago. My goal was to review them all but life happened and I somehow turned into a lazy beauty blogger (hence the overload in beauty content, hope you’re here for it!). So here’s my first review of black|Up cosmetics.

You guys know that every Fall I search for the perfect vampy lip. I usually end up mixing every plum and dark purple lippie that I have in my possession and then call on the prayer warriors to pray that it lasts through all my cups of coffees and lunchtime Mexican corn.

I had this bright idea to clean and purge all my beauty products. This is still a work in progress BUT I found so many gems that I had been sleeping on.

Insert black|Up’s 2 in 1 lip pencil!

The picture above does this plum semi-matte shade NO justice. The product is meant to “intensify lipstick or lip gloss, or glide on lip base to even out two-toned lips.” But you can totally wear it solo because it’s that fierce you guys!

I’ve been adding NYX’s soft cream matte in “Transylvania” on top to sort of seal the deal and bae bee…talk about all day freaking wear!

ty alexanderIn case you are unfamiliar with black|up, it was founded in 1999 by an African makeup artist. Black Up is the first upscale beauty brand dedicated to women of color and it’s now sold at Sephora (this is worthy of fashionable cartwheels darlings!). The Paris-based line is known for its range of professional-quality makeup and skin care that answer the specific needs of darker skin tones.

We’ve been asking for more options and colors for WOC–here it is. Here’s were we all pull out our wallets and support. PLUS these highly-pigmented products are so worth a spot in your makeup bag!

I’m definitely going to invest! MAC’s Darkside, Wet n Wild’s Cherry Bomb, and OCC’s Black Dahlia are my go to “you can’t see me” vampy lip colors but I’m always on the hunt for more!
